Viran Episkopi is a village in the Community of Erfos of the Municipality of Rethymno in the Regional Unit of Rethymno, Crete. It is 14 kilometers from Rethymno and is built at an altitude of 85 m. 
On the top of a hill approximately 2.3 kilometers east of the village, a settlement from the early Minoan period has been excavated. On the same hill, remains of a building from the Roman era were also found. 
The name of the village comes from the word viran, which is of Turkish origin and means ruin, and the word episkopi, which is a name from the Ottoman times.
